The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

David C. McKee, M.D. is Board Certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with subspecialty board certification in electrodiagnostic medicine and neuromuscular disease by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. McKee's undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Chemistry (summa cum laude) from Macalester College in St. Paul, was followed by his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. His internship and residency were completed in Portland, Oregon, at Good Samaritan Hospital and Oregon Health Science University, respectively. They were followed by a fellowship in neuromuscular disease and electromyography at the prestigious Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, in Quebec, Canada.

He began his practice of neurology in Duluth in July of 1992 and has been very involved in the northern Minnesota medical community ever since. In addition to this practice, he has served as a medical director (specialty care) for Integrity Health Network since 2010 and will take on the role of chief medical officer in 2015 as well. He has been elected to Best Doctors in America twice, and in 2014 was selected as a Castle Connolly top neurologist.

When he is not in the office you can catch him sailing with his family or coaching his daughters' basketball teams.

 

Tammy L. Davis, ONP-BC is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who has experience in orthopedics, surgery, critical care, emergency and outpatient care.  She obtained both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in Nursing from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She has been a Registered Nurse in Minnesota since 2000 and a certified Critical Care Registered Nurse since 2004.  She became a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 2005. She also has national orthopedic verification as a Nurse Practitioner.

Her extensive work experience has included orthopedics, emergency care and neuroscience, the latter at both St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth and at St. Mary’s Hospital-Mayo Clinic in Rochester.   She enjoys working with her medical team members and with her patients and their families.

When not in the office you might find her going for a run or cross country skiing. She also loves to fish and spend time at her cabin with her family.

 

Adam J. Ries, PsyD is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in Neuropsychology and Health Psychology. His practice is with Arbor Integrative Behavioral Health, PLLC. However, since his office is located here in Northland Neurology and Myology, LLC, many patients may appreciate the added convenience.

Dr. Ries spent one of his undergraduate years in Birmingham, England as a participant in the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s Study Abroad Program.  He received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.  This was followed by several opportunities to widen his psychology experience and training in Wisconsin and Minnesota, ultimately resulting in his doctorate from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University.

Dr. Ries been practicing in Duluth since 2008.  He welcomes referrals from health care providers for cognitive and neuropsychological evaluations for, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions/dementia, assessments before and after neurosurgery, and brain or neurocognitive function secondary to chemical difficulty and/or oncological treatment.  He provides both diagnostic clarification and treatment planning.  He accepts most major insurance plans.

When away from work, he chooses to spend time with his family, especially sharing outdoor activities and experiences.
